If I hit a deer, will my premium go up?
It will depend on the circumstances. For your premium to go up, one of two things has to happen. Either you tell the insurance company about hitting the deer, or the police become involved. If the police are involved, they’ll write up a police report and that will go into your file. If this is the case, then your insurance company will find out when they do a regular check on your driver record. Usually though, if you hit a deer, there is some significant damage done to your car. If you have comprehensive insurance, your coverage should get the car fixed, so use it.
