Venturi America Brings Open-Air Fun to the World of Electric Cars

I have said before that I dont think electric cars are the way of the future and I have little interest in them. Well, most of them that is. When the fun factor is turned up to max, a battery-powered car can catch my attention.

The Venturi America caught my attention!

Not only is this on/off road buggy dead sexy to look at, but it also has the performance to back it up. The mid-mounted 220 kw motor produces the equivalent of over 300 horsepower. All that juice is sent to the rear wheels through a limited slip differential, ensuring that energy reaches the ground equally. This combination generates some pretty impressive performance numbers: The America is capable of a top speed of 112 miles per hour!

Weight is kept to a manageable 2970 pounds through the use of a carbon composite and aluminum sandwich, and carbon fiber body panels.

Government cuts in flood defences could make homes uninsurable

Cuts in investment in flood defences as a result of the Comprehensive Spending Review could make homes near rivers and the sea uninsurable and would seriously affect their value.

The UK is among one of the few EU countries which does not provide automatic flood insurance with a home insurance package. The industry’s agreement with the government, which runs out in 2013, states that cover must be provided as long as defences are kept in good order. However, homeowners are concerned that cuts to promised flood defences in vulnerable areas will invalidate insurers’ liability.

More than a million homes across the country are affected, including parts of London as well as coastal, riverside and other major city locations. Lack of available flood insurance would render the properties at risk of losing at least 40 per cent of their value and it would also make it difficult to raise a mortgage on homes that are situated in vulnerable areas.

Cheap Car Insurance & Fuel Costs

Hands up everyone who happens to think that the current cost of petrol is disgusting! Yes, me too. With petrol costs rising and wages remaining low, it is going to get so much more difficult to keep your car on the road, even if you can get cheap car insurance premiums by comparing insurance right here online at Powerseeker. However, there are things you can do to keep your fuel consumption as low as possible and therefore save money on fuel.

The first thing is to remove anything from your car that you do not need. For example, if you keep anything heavy in there then it actually makes your car heavier and uses more fuel. Similarly, you can keep your tyres fully inflated to reduce fuel consumption. Avoid taking unecessary journeys as well.  Finally, make sure that there are no leaks in your engine so that fuel is not escaping and costing you even more cash!
